Freons

The company NORTA MIT supplies freons (halo carbons) of local and foreign manufacturers.

Freons are haloalkyl groups, fluoride and chlorine containing bi-products of saturated hydrocar-bon (mostly methane and ethane). Used as cooling agents in refrigerating machines. Beside fluorine freons normally include chlorine atoms, and rarely bromine.

Physical properties

Colourless gases/liquids, odourless. Soluble in non-polar organic solvents, hardly soluble in wa-ter and polar solvents.

Chemical properties

Freons are chemically very inert and they are not flammable in air and are not explosive even contacting with open fire. But when heated some chlorine containing freons over 250°С form poi-sonous products, for example phosgene gas COCl2. Resistant to acid and alkali.

The company has an allocated storage premises where the most demanded cooling agents and other materials are formed to fulfil air conditioning works, installation of ventilation, heating, water supply and water treatment.
